Usually when you move to a new place the first thing on your agenda after learning about the city and finding a place to live is meeting people you want to consider your friends. In the first few weeks I did just that. A lot of my friends are Erasmus (European Students who study abroad) students from many different countries such as Russia, Lithuania, Poland, Italy, Belgium, France, Sweden and Germany. Getting to know people from different countries helps you understand more about what Europe, as a whole, is like and its a great way to learn about different cultures.
My Russian friends, most of whom live together, decided to invite around 20 of us together and they cooked a full five course Russian dinner for all of us. I must thank them not only because the food was amazing but also because they so graciously slaved away for our enjoyment.
Instead of the stereotypical impression that others have of Russia, their food isn't only Caviar and Vodka. We enjoyed the Italian version of Champagne (Lambruska) while we ate Beze and Zcharkoe. It comes to show how much they value their friends. I really enjoyed the meal and had a great time talking and socializing after the meal!
