Uni, as they like to call it in Europe, or university life here in Alicante is very different from what I'm used to in Miami. Apart from the palm trees, similar weather and the tropical animals hidden around every bend, the University of Alicante is different from Miami, just not in its outward aesthetic appeal.
For instance, all the signs are in Valenciano first and then Castellaño. It takes some getting used to trying to figure out building names and directions in a strange dialect of Spanish (Castellaño).
On top of that there is a strange hand symbol which represents the Uni. Not only does it guard the entrance, but it also appears on every desktop and the uni's website.
The notebooks have grids in them instead of horizontal lines, binders with four holes, and printers almost nonexistent. Also, the two hour classes twice a week are another killer but luckily some of the professors have the common sense to give us breaks or let us out 20 minutes early.
