Apartment Search

First day in Alicante and instead of sightseeing and venturing through the city, I spent the cold, rainy day searching for an apartment to live in. Apartments, or pisos as they like to call them, are readily available all over the city for all the Erasmus, students studying abroad within Europe, students. Amazingly enough none of the apartments are priced for more than 300 Euros (roughly 400 dollars). Thats much better than the 900 dollars that I spend in Miami per month.

You can live like a King here, but one thing you have to realize is that its Spain and not all American luxuries are going to be here. For example, dryers don't exist in Spain. You line dry everything. Also, its rare to find houses with heating in Alicante, you can but most of them don't. Fortunately the temperature is in 50s at worst and goes up to 70s in the springtime. Also, internet is a must for most people but isn't always that common in the Spanish piso.

Getting used to the differences and negotiating with the gerentes, the landlords, in Spanish is always interesting.
