Only way to really be prepared is by doing your homework. Buses, rails, phones, currency, maps and apartments are among the few things that I've been researching. Watching Spanish movies like Pan's Labyrinth and reading Harry Potter in Spanish is my way of improving my fluency in the language. Hopefully I won't be completely lost once I get there.
